Fun With Hula Basics
with Keo Woolford

Have fun getting back to basics. In this short intensive class we will be working on basic hula steps and learning a combination to enhance your hula technique. In the style of Auntie Ma`iki Aiu Lake as passed on to Robert Cazimero, this class will help with your expression and extension, coordination and comprehension, poise and performance in a relaxed and fun environment. Learn your basics, then let go and dance!

Led by kumu (teachers) Karl Veto Baker and Michael Lanakila Casupant, Hālau I Ka Wēkiu travels to New York from Pauoa, O'ahu, Hawai'i. Performing traditional hula, the group earned first place in the Male Kahiko Division of the Merrie Monarch Hula Festival in April 2007. This performance is supported in part by the Kauakoko Foundation and The Ford Foundation.
