NATIVE SOUNDS DOWNTOWN: Hālau I Ka Wēkiu

Led by kumu (teachers) Karl Veto Baker and Michael Lanakila Casupant, Hālau I Ka Wēkiu travels to New York from Pauoa, O'ahu, Hawai'i. Performing traditional hula, the group earned first place in the Male Kahiko Division of the Merrie Monarch Hula Festival in April 2007. This performance is supported in part by the Kauakoko Foundation and The Ford Foundation.
The National Museum of the American Indian, George Gustav Heye Center, is located at One Bowling Green adjacent to the northeast corner of Battery Park, New York, New York.
