Workshop in chant and dance for the 2009 Ka 'Aha Hula 'O Halauaola Conference in Honolulu

This workshop is for those who are planning to attend the opening ceremonies for the conference in Hawai'i. The material that will be taught is specific to the opening ceremonies and not for use in any other setting without the expressed consent of the kumu. Attendance on both days is required. Additional workshops will be held on O'ahu prior to the conference if you are unable to attend both days of this workshop.

Although there is no fee for the workshop, registration is necessary to provide a headcount to the Kumu for the distribution of handouts. The workshop will be taught by:

Kumu Hula Sonny Ching of Halau Na Mamo O Pu'uanahulu,

Kumu Hula Lono Padilla and Kumu Hula Robert Ke'ano Ka'upu of Halau Hi'iakainamakalehua.

The two-day training is free of charge and is intended for those who are planning to participate in the Conference in 2009.

Please wear a hula pa'u or pareu, bring water, paper and pen, a tape recorder is optional. Video taping will be allowed at the end of the workshop.
